Alex Haley (August 11, 1921-February 10, 1992) was an American author who wrote Roots: The Saga of an American Family and created Roots (TV Miniseries). He, himself, appears in the last episode of the TV Miniseries. He is played by James Earl Jones in Roots: The Next Generation as when he was 40 years old. He is also the co-author of The Autobiography of Malcolm X along with Malcolm X. His well-known ancestor is Kunta Kinte.
